To make room for our growing pharmacy, Guardian Atlanta recently underwent a remodel to reorganize packaging areas and add space for new staff members.
Each staff member has their own workspace and teams are grouped together based on their job descriptions. This helps the staff communicate better on daily tasks, cycle issues and phone triage.
“We wanted to strategically group our teams together to optimize productivity and communication,” said Tim Williams, PharmD, director of pharmacy.
In the packaging areas, fill techs work in a specific section depending on the system. At the Medicine-On-Time station and the TCGRX strip packaging station, lead pharmacists work side-by-side with technicians, offering direct supervision and ensuring seamless dispensing. To keep our staff well-versed on all of our packaging systems, we cross-train them and move them to different stations when needed.
We’ve also located our billing department close to the data entry techs and pharmacists to facilitate open communication and give them a working knowledge of the medications they’re billing.
These new changes have given Guardian Pharmacy of Atlanta the tools and structure we need to best handle our exciting growth.
“We have a fantastic team at Guardian Pharmacy of Atlanta,” said Williams. “We’re looking forward to adding new faces and continuously improving our processes in order to be the best partner to our customers.”
